This has been a fantastic first year as the new Chief Executive Officer of Carers Tasmania. During 2023/24, Executive Policy Officer, Julie Ryan, and I listened to carers across Tasmania, and advocated on their behalf to various Tasmanian and Australian Government reviews and inquiries. We have gathered input and worked with the Tasmanian Government to see the refresh of the Tasmanian Carer Action Plan. And we have let carers know about the Tasmanian Government’s approach to recognising carers and the Tasmanian Carers Charter.

We also consulted widely to develop two foundational documents for Carers Tasmania and Care2Serve – a First Nations Charter and a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan. These documents are important in ensuring we are inclusive and deliver effectively for our carers, achieving our vision of making life better for Tasmanian carers.
